We are happy to announce that Dr. David Lessman joins New York Physicians in February 2016. Dr. Lessman received his medical degree from the Mount Sinai School of Medicine, and went on to complete his internship and residency at the Mount Sinai Medical Center. Dr. Lessman remained at Mount Sinai to complete his fellowship in nephrology, including an additional year of basic science research resulting in original publications in the fields of transplant immunology and molecular cell biology concerning the pathogenesis of focal segmental glomerulosclerosis. Dr. Lessman joined clinical faculty at Columbia as an assistant professor in the division of hospitalist medicine in 2013, with additional teaching responsibilities supervising renal fellows in their outpatient dialysis clinics. In 2015 he was awarded the Ewig Clinical Scholar award for his resident and fellow teaching. His practice at NYP emphasizes primary care, as well as hypertension and chronic kidney disease, electrolyte disorders, glomerular diseases, and kidney stones.
